Catch Them Young

The primary purpose of the “Catch Them Young” Campaign is to promote the consumption of fish at household level by educating and empowering primary school learners to become advocates and influencers of positive dietary behaviour.

The campaign specifically aims to:

  • Educate primary school learners on the nutritional and socio-economic benefits of consuming fish;

  • Encourage the integration of fish into daily home meals by influencing household decision-making through children;

  • Address misconceptions related to the affordability, accessibility, and preparation of fish, particularly in rural communities;

  • Promote fish as a healthy, affordable, and accessible protein alternative; and

  • Support long-term behavioural change that contributes to improved national fish consumption levels.

By focusing on primary school learners, the campaign seeks to cultivate a generation that not only understands the value of fish consumption but actively promotes it within their homes and communities, thereby contributing to improved nutrition, food security, and socio-economic development in Namibia.
