Omuthiya - Omuthiya Fish Shop was crowned the 2023 Namibia Fish Consumption Promotion Trust Fish Shop of the Year, in recognition of its outstanding performance, commitment to service excellence, and dedication to uplifting the local community on 8 October 2025.

The prestigious award marks a significant milestone for the Oshikoto-based shop, which has consistently demonstrated excellence in service delivery while embodying the true spirit of the Trust’s mandate, to promote fish consumption and ensure that fish remains accessible and affordable to all Namibians.

The Fish Shop has distinguished itself through its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and teamwork in 2023. The staff’s professionalism, dedication, and passion have not only earned the trust and loyalty of the community they serve, but have also set a high standard for other fish shops within the NFCPT network to follow.

The shop’s consistent performance and strong community engagement have played a meaningful role in encouraging increased fish consumption in the region, contributing to improved household nutrition, food security, and economic activity. Through their daily efforts, the team has shown how frontline service delivery can directly support national development goals.

Congratulating the team on their achievement, NFCPT Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Victor Pea, praised the Omuthiya Fish Shop for its remarkable performance and commitment to excellence. Although he was unable to attend the ceremony in person, he conveyed his appreciation and admiration for the team’s hard work and dedication to serving the people of Namibia with pride and integrity.

“This award is a testament to what can be achieved through teamwork, consistency, and a shared commitment to our mandate. The Omuthiya Fish Shop team has truly demonstrated what it means to put communities first while advancing the mission of the Trust.” Said Mr. Pea in his message.
